Colorado Advisory was started in 2015 by Wendy Thompson. As a recovering addict herself, Wendy recalled the young man who gave her a shot when she was newly sober as a 21-year-old. He gave her a job as a receptionist, and she felt a sense of self-worth and self-importance that she hadn’t felt before. After a year in the job, Wendy saw that it was one of the main things that kept her clean and sober. Seeing how important stable employment had been in her own life, she vowed to start an organization that would do the same for other recovering addicts and alcoholics, and in 2015, the Colorado Advisory was born.
The Colorado Advisory offers free career counseling for recovering addicts and alcoholics that have at least six months of clean time. The Colorado Advisory also hosts weekly Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous meetings. The Colorado Advisory also hosts social gatherings and parties, networking events, and classes.
Since 2015, the Colorado Advisory has helped over 50 recovering alcoholics and addicts in the Denver area to find employment.
