Food and diet tips for diabetics
First things first. If you notice in the title I have food, but also put the word diet. This is because I really do not think there is a “diet for diabetics. At least, it should not be named, but many people are familiar with and accustomed to such an article. The word, however, seems to imply something temporary with a specific short-term goal in mind. The average diet of the average customer (especially here in America) is terrible and desperately needs fixing.
And so I tell my customers, instead of seeking a “diet” in search of a new nutrition plan that is much healthier and will become a permanent change and not something short term. Make changes gradually, with the ultimate goal is to improve your food, should be seriously considered if you have diabetes or not. So, think long term and you’ll wonder much longer with a longer life and healthier.
Now, before you make these changes, I would say things you should always consult your doctor. Especially after a series of changes to your condition and medication that may have already entered into force. That said, if this article is to power, refers to all where you are getting your body used. Obviously this includes food, but supplements (such as vitamins, minerals and herbs, some of which may be present in foods) and drink well. The best way to meet nutritional needs through diet, but sometimes you may need a little extra in which supplementation may be necessary.
For diabetics, the integration can be found with some or all of the following very useful in maintaining or reducing the levels of blood sugar. There are many other supplements out there that could be read from or on his behalf, but for the application of time and space, I list to find the most common and easiest to use. In addition, for the same reasons, this list only the names and doses or no information. Because of space limitations, I apologize, but there is plenty of information available online today and most of the vitamin store sales people, in my opinion, some knowledge of this. These additions to your diet (vitamins, minerals or herbs):
Chromium (there is a form of glucose tolerance factor GTF more useful for diabetics)
- Vanadyl Sulfate
- Hay greek
- Cinnamon
- Gymnema Sylvestre
- L-carnitine
- Spirulina
- Fiber-Psyllium (as in Metamucil)
Some of these are covered in their most available and / or shape ideal for diabetics to use. Considering all these supplements may not be for everyone, financial, some of which may actually benefit. I have given you a good advantage here, so we can research and see what works best for you.
With supplements from the way most of this article has power! One of the best diets I’ve seen out there for diabetics, the glycemic index. What it really is, assign a number to all foods on the basis of the impact it will have on blood sugar levels compared to glucose (sugar). Then, glucose, a number of 100 (because it is sugar and raise blood sugar rapidly) and a fruit such as grapefruit, some of the 25 because it does not affect the level of sugar in the blood as glucose. Many diets have relied on this scale, so you can choose and try or just watch the glycemic index on your own.
Some of the most popular diets based off the GI, Atkins, South Beach, nutrisystem, and Zone. Often you will be assigned to a (GI) GI number to follow which means that you choose foods that number or less. I used a GI of 45 clients successfully for many diabetics. You learn more about food and how they will impact blood sugar and how to link proteins or fats (and fiber) to help lower their glycemic index is a bit ‘. You can also learn GL (glycemic load) or more or less, the effect of a meal will have on your body. This is really what a diabetic needs to monitor and know, in every case. In fact, the glycemic index designed specifically for people with diabetes in early 1980! With diabetes (and obesity) almost epidemic proportions, it’s no wonder that many diets are based their principles.
One of the most important things a diabetic should have in his diet, I also included in the supplement because it may be easier in a few days, should not be taken in supplement form if you have not been able to include in your diet that day and this is fiber. Fiber helps in many ways, but more important for diabetics is that it can inhibit or delay the absorption of carbohydrates and other nutrients or drugs, so you can see as you take. In fact, if you’re going to have a meal rich in carbohydrates, fibers are certainly there will be no way to maintain the level of blood sugar to go higher, it would be without the fiber. In fact, if you look at the formula GI or GL will see that the amount of fiber, because subtracting so effectively.
So, in short, I just touched on many of the nutritional aspects of a diabetic should contain. Unfortunately, the room I could not go into much more than other aspects such as timing and portion control meal or eat lean protein and good fats and what they are. The positive side is that these are things you learn along the way if you choose to follow one of the diets I mentioned above or even if you investigate and test the glycemic index, or the like, on your monitor. As with all health and fitness, always consult a doctor before beginning any kind of routine. Good luck and be healthy!
